What’s your favourite imposter syndrome meme?

Imposter syndrome meme "Find all the memes!"

An imposter syndrome meme roundup for heart-centred entrepreneurs

What did we do before memes came along??

I swear that numerous relationships of mine improved with the advent of memes. They are just so relatable and humorous. They can really open up the lines of communication…especially when dealing with challenging situations.

Imposter syndrome is one of those things that I think most of us can relate to. And it can feel soooooo heavy.

So with the help of my right-hand woman, Victoria, we’ve rounded up some of our favourite imposter syndrome memes to put a smile on your face, and paired them with some reflection questions because you know me…I can’t resist the chance to dig deeper!

Fave Imposter Syndrome Meme #1 : All the Smart, Successful People

Imposter Syndrome Meme: An orange cirlce similar to a Venn diagram. Title: Types of People who Can Have Imposter Syndrome. Then an orange square saying "All the Smart, Successful people you think have their shit together". via @thera[ywithdrv

I have a dry sense of humour so this one really hit that button for me.

I love that it highlights how all of us who struggle with imposter syndrome think it’s just us.

We personalize the “imposter syndrome” thoughts rather than recognizing that basically all of us have those thoughts.

My questions for you:

  • Why do you think smart, successful people have self doubt?

  • What’s the purpose of self doubt?

  • How does self doubt serve smart, successful people?

  • How does self doubt serve you?

Fave Imposter Syndrome Meme # 2 : Mindset Shift

Imposter syndrome Meme: Recently a friend told me how it confuses me when people think more highly of me than I do of myself. She said "they see who you are really instead of what you've lied to yourself". It's stuck with me ever since.

OOF! Did anyone else feel that punch-in-the-gut feeling when you read that?

It’s painful to see how awful we can all be to ourselves, isn’t it?

My question for you:

What’s scary about thinking good thoughts about yourself?

Fave Imposter Syndrome Meme #3 : For Game of Thrones Fans

Okay, I never quite boarded the Game of Thrones train.

But I digress. This meme is cute and cheeky. And I love cute and cheeky.

It helps us see imposter syndrome as a thing we can work on, rather than identifying ourselves AS imposter syndrome

My questions for you:

  • What do you want to name your inner critic/imposter voice?

  • If you knew, deep in your bones, that imposter syndrome was just trying to protect you, what would you like to say to it?

  • What would it be like to develop a compassionate and understanding relationship to that part of yourself?

Fave Imposter Syndrome Meme # 4 : Started With Tumblr Now We’re Here

This is such a great story!!!

I know it’s a bit long for a meme, but it started on Tumblr, and you can check out the full text of this image if that’s easier for reading.

This imposter syndrome meme really normalizes the feelings, and helps you see that part of the reason you have imposter syndrome is because you’re awesome and you care.

It has me thinking about humility. Is imposter syndrome a distorted version of humility…humility gone wrong?

My question for you:

Which high achieving person do you want to have as your beacon of hope when it comes to imposter syndrome (ie. every time you find yourself with imposter syndrome, you remind yourself of this high achieving person whom you admire)?

List out a number of different high achieving people who were known to have imposter syndrome, such as Albert Einstein, Neil Armstrong, Michelle Obama, Maya Angelou, and more.

Fave Imposter Syndrome Meme # 5 : Meta Mental Gymnastics

This one made me chuckle.

Someone having imposter syndrome about having imposter syndrome. Bahahaha…so meta!

If you’re thinking it…you probably have it. YES, you’re “good enough” for imposter syndrome, as weird as that sounds to be saying.

But just how much is it impacting your daily life, and success as an entrepreneur?

Luckily, we have an actual imposter syndrome quiz you can take to get to the bottom of it…and yup, some tips on managing it too!
